Can you believe that the first two quarters, the first 6 months, the first 182 days of the year are in the past?
Thankfully, I can look back at that time and be proud of what was accomplished, for business, for the Goode Community, for my family and for me personally.
Though, the beginning of the year, I felt the post Covid blues – going back to the normal hustle and bustle of life, feeling the need to be in multiple places at once, life running me versus me running my life. It was a new year without my mom physically being here. It was a bit of a rough start. I knew I need to shift my thinking and I’m glad I started therapy again. Self-care is incredibly important – recognizing the signs that you need some sort of help. My sign was when my health insurance changed at the beginning of the year and my therapist was now on my work’s plan. Getting to catch her up on everything that happened in six months was an emotional roller coaster, but it was so good to get off my chest, off my mind.
I noticed that I was able to start sleeping better, show up the way I wanted to, and feeling the internal guilt of the past I wished I had drift away. And then the icing on the cake was attending a friends’ forest therapy session one beautiful June day. Again, it was meant to be as I received the event ticket for free in an eWomen Network drawing. The universe knew that I needed this time outside.
Going into the day without expectations was beautiful. We balanced our time inside and outside, journaling, mediating and sharing with our intimate group. While you might think I spend a lot of time outside on the golf course, snowboarding, hiking – that’s moving though nature – and your mind is still working to keep you safe while having fun. Being in nature, feeling the sunshine while listening to birds, smelling the fresh, seeing the wind rustle the leaves and the butterfly flying overhead, is very different. You let your mind relax and wonder. This was the first outside experience for the day and it shifted me immediately to a new place mentally. By the end of the day, I left such peace within, internal love and the feeling that I’m living my purpose and why. Loving from within, allows me to love others more.
All of this from seeing the universal signs for the need for self-care. And I’m so glad I did!
